The Municipality of Morong is very grateful to the first lady-Mayor who has been given a chance to lead its people and uplift the lives of many of her constituents. worked hard for the betterment of her Municipality. Her programs and projects did not only focus primarily to infrastructures but rather gave more emphasis to boosting the morale and living conditions of all sectors in the society.
The lady-Chief Executive, as doctor by profession, did not just confine herself inside the office during her term, but extended her duties by going to the most remote areas within the five (5) barangays to conduct medical missions at least twice a week.
Among her other note-worthy accomplishments are the following:
- Acquisition of two (2) new fully equipped ambulances & an x-ray machine with complete apparatus. Residents no longer need to go to Balanga or Olongapo City for x-ray.
- Acquisition of five (5) Barangay Patrol vehicles for immediate response to the community’s needs.
- Several medical, dental & optical missions tied up with different private organizations like San Diego Lions Club, Tarlac Lions Club, Mt. Pinatubo & Bataan Lions Club which caters to more than 4,000 patients specially children; free cataract extractions with “Sukob Foundation” which catered more than 1,000 patients specifically the Senior Citizens; free circumcision (tuli) and small cyst operations with St. Lukes Medical Center & UST Hospital which catered more than 300 patients.
- TESDA accredited livelihood and community-based skills training programs such as “Van Aralan on Wheels” Free Computer Learning Program with AIHU Foundation which benefited 600 trainees; welding airconditioning and refrigeration, electrical, sewing, food-processing, basket & candle-making, F & B, which benefited more than 1,000 out-of-school youth and unemployed adult-residents. These trainings intend to arm the beneficiaries with necessary skills as their passport to global competition.
- Infrastructure projects such as concreting, backfilling and asphalting of roads; repainting of highways, bridges, humps, pedestrian lanes & waiting sheds; constructions of farm-to-market roads, de-clogging and repair of open canals, construction of bridges, path-walks, rip-rapping of river embankment, rehabilitation of irrigation canals, repair of classrooms, construction of Senior Citizen’s buildings, day care centers; construction of a “world-class” Municipal building which is now part of the tourist attractions of Morong.
The soft-spoken lady Mayor has also established “Adopt a Malnourished, Feed a Child, Save a Future” Supplemental Feeding Program upon her assumption to office. The objective is to minimize school dropouts. Students belonging to the poorest of the poor families in the eleven (11) public schools, both elementary and high school were being selected as beneficiaries and given “free lunch” throughout the school year. This program has already benefitted more than 2,000 students since it was launched in 2007.
In 2009, the good-hearted Mayor has seen the need to provide assistance to poor but deserving college students in the municipality. She then implemented the Educational Assistance Program. The students were given financial assistance which they can use to pay for tuition fees and other school expenses. A total of more than 400 students have already enjoyed this program.
Mayor Cynthia G. Linao-Estanislao, M.D. might not have enough time to implement other worthy programs during her six years in office but the residents of Morong are rest assured that these will be continuously executed by her husband-successor Dr. Jorge S. Estanislao,M.D.
Morong is indeed so fortunate to have a husband and wife tandem, who hand in hand help each other not only to uplift the living conditions of their constituents but also to achieve the primary goal of making the Municipality of Morong soar high and attain progress…..
Thank you Mayor Cynthia for starting it all!
